Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio 2026: October 24 to November 13

Mercury is retrograde in Scorpio from October 24 to November 13, 2026: a deep review of what was left unsaid, with dates and a reading for every sign.

Illustration of a stone well at night with a bucket lowered on a rope and one bright planet above the rooftops

You reread a message from August and finally understand what she meant. A two-hour research rabbit hole starts with "wait, how does that actually work?" and you surface knowing far more than you planned to. That's the flavor of this Mercury retrograde, which runs its whole course in Scorpio, so it goes deep rather than wide. It's less about lost chargers and double-booked dinners and more about the conversations underneath the ones you're having.

Mercury goes retrograde on October 24 and turns direct on November 13. Venus is retrograde through all of it, which puts words and wants on rewind together. Treat the three weeks as a chance to say what you actually meant.

The dates

A station is the moment a planet seems to pause and change direction. Retrograde is apparent motion: Mercury looks like it's drifting backward against the stars, though it never reverses. Every time here is Eastern, and clocks go back at 2 a.m. on November 1, so the times before that are EDT and the ones after it are EST.

  • Wednesday, September 30, 7:44 a.m. ET: Mercury enters Scorpio.
  • October 3: Venus goes retrograde.
  • Friday, October 23, 5:38 a.m. ET: The Sun enters Scorpio, the day before the retrograde begins.
  • Saturday, October 24, 3:15 a.m. ET: Mercury stations retrograde at 20°59' Scorpio. Mercury is slowest now, and the retrograde is at its most noticeable.
  • Friday, October 30, 1:21 p.m. ET: Mercury squares Mars while retrograde (17°59' Scorpio and Leo).
  • Wednesday, November 4, 9:25 a.m. ET: The Sun meets Mercury at 12°11' Scorpio, the middle of the retrograde, when Mercury passes between Earth and the Sun.
  • Monday, November 9, 2:02 a.m. ET: New Moon in Scorpio at 16°54'.
  • Friday, November 13, 10:52 a.m. ET: Mercury stations direct at 5°02' Scorpio. Venus stations direct the same day at 7:20 p.m. ET.
  • Sunday, December 6, 3:33 a.m. ET: Mercury moves into Sagittarius.

Why Scorpio changes the flavor

Scorpio is fixed water: feeling that goes deep and stays put. Give Mercury, the planet of how you think, talk and take things in, a stay in that sign and it starts working like an investigator. It reads the pause before an answer and notices the subject everyone steered around. It researches until it hits bottom, and it chooses its words carefully, keeping some of them to itself.

The Sun enters Scorpio the day before Mercury turns, so Scorpio season and the retrograde run side by side. That turns up the sign's depth and privacy for everyone, not only people born under it.

Now put Mercury in reverse and you get a review with no patience for skimming. Retrograde Mercury is for revisiting, revising and reconnecting, and in Scorpio the list gets personal: the conversation that never got finished, the decision you made too fast, the research you dropped when it got uncomfortable, the message you'd read differently now. It also raises a quieter question about who you confide in and why. Plenty of people use a window like this to look at what they've kept private and decide what, if anything, they want to say. What you share, and with whom, stays your call.

Two planets on rewind

Venus has been retrograde since October 3, and Mercury joins it on October 24, so for three weeks two planets run in reverse together. Mercury is how you say things. Venus is what you want and who you want near: affection, taste, what you value. With both under review at once, relationship conversations are the obvious place to feel it, because a conversation is words and wants in the same room. It's the stretch where an argument about the dishes can become a talk about what it was really about, if you both say it out loud.

Both planets turn direct on November 13, Mercury in the morning and Venus that evening. Venus's side of the story has its own forecast.

Three weeks to say what you meant

Start on the 24th, when Mercury is slowest and the retrograde is easiest to feel. Use the first few days to gather instead of announce: list the conversations you left open, dig out the document you abandoned, reread the thread that keeps nagging you. Keep the everyday habits simple. Back up your phone and laptop, reread names, dates and attachments before you hit send, and confirm plans instead of assuming them. They're good practice in any month, and the retrograde gives you a reason to actually do them.

On October 30, Mercury squares Mars, and words heat up. Think fast replies, quick debates, thin patience and sharp edges. That friction can nudge you to finally say the real thing, ideally after one pause. Draft the honest message three times and send the shortest version. How you phrase it depends partly on your Mercury sign, so lean on whatever wording already sounds like you.

The Sun meets Mercury on November 4, in the middle of the retrograde. Your mind and your sense of self line up, which makes it a clear moment to notice what you actually think, as opposed to what you've been saying. Write it down in one sentence before anyone asks.

The new Moon in Scorpio on November 9 lands in the retrograde's last week. New Moons are the traditional time for setting intentions, and a Scorpio new Moon suits one you keep to yourself. Choose it, write it down, and tell no one yet.

Mercury turns direct on November 13, and a direct station is a slow restart, not a switch. The days after it are for sending what you drafted and picking the thread back up, with no sprint required.

Mercury retrograde in Scorpio for your sign

Scorpio falls in a different house of your chart depending on your rising sign, and that house is the part of life where the review gets personal. Read the section for your rising sign. Finding your rising sign takes a birth time, so if you don't have one, read for your Sun sign instead, the usual shortcut. These are whole sign houses: each sign is one house, counted from your rising sign.

Aries

Scorpio fills your 8th house, the corner of the chart for intimacy, shared resources and vulnerability. Aries says things at full speed, but this is the house for the sentence you've been rehearsing. The conversation to revisit is about what you and someone else hold in common: who covers what, what each of you has kept back, how much of yourself the other person has actually seen.

Taurus

Scorpio in your 7th house puts the retrograde into one-to-one relationships: the partner, the closest friend, even the person on the other side of an open disagreement. Go looking for the agreements running on assumption, spoken or written, and ask whether both of you still mean them. "Can we check in on how this is working?" is a perfectly good opener.

Gemini

The retrograde meets you in the 6th house, where daily upkeep lives: routines, workload, the maintenance nobody applauds. Audit a normal week and see which habits still earn their place. A talk with a coworker about who actually does what, if one has been brewing, belongs on that list.

Cancer

Creativity, romance and play all live in the 5th house, and Scorpio sits there for you. The draft folder still holds a document titled "FINAL final," so open it and read it the way a stranger would. The same house has a question for any flirtation: what do you want from this, when you're being honest? Cancer guards the soft stuff, and the 5th is where you let someone see it.

Leo

Home is the subject, because Scorpio is in your 4th house of private life and the places you retreat to. Picture the conversation with whoever you live with about what you each need the space to be, or the call to a relative that's been sitting on your list. Leo is made for an audience, and this one happens with none.

Virgo

Your 3rd house covers communication, learning and the people nearby, which puts the retrograde right on Mercury's own subject. Siblings, neighbors, the people you see most and the research you shelved when it got complicated are all in range. Finish the sentence you keep revising.

Libra

Libra weighs every choice against what other people want. Your 2nd house of money, possessions and values holds Scorpio, and it asks what you'd choose if their preferences didn't count. That might be a conversation about a bill or a price you've been too polite to name, or just a private list of what you won't bend on.

Scorpio

This one is home turf. Scorpio is your own sign, so it takes your whole 1st house, and the review is about you: how you come across, how much you show, and the gap between the two. The Sun meets Mercury on November 4 in your sign, a clean moment to notice what you think of yourself with nobody's reaction in the way.

Sagittarius

Scorpio falls in your 12th house, home to retreat, rest and endings. The material is the thoughts you haven't said out loud, even to yourself, and the review goes best alone: a long walk, the back of a notebook, an evening with no plans. For a sign that usually moves on by moving, finishing something quietly is the unfamiliar part.

Capricorn

A friend tells you something private and you realize you've been the safe person in the group for years. In your 11th house, home to friends, groups and shared hopes, Scorpio puts that role under review. The question is whether you have one of those yourself, and which of your goals still belong to you rather than to the group's plan. Capricorn is good at carrying things; the 11th asks who carries yours.

Aquarius

With Scorpio in your 10th house, the review reaches career, reputation and how visible you are. Notice the distance between what you say in meetings and what you think on the walk home. Pick one idea you've been filing for later and say it in the room.

Pisces

Your 9th house of beliefs, higher learning and the big picture is where Scorpio lands. The course you didn't finish, the book you quit at chapter three and the thing you used to be sure about make a good shelf to browse again. Which of your beliefs did you actually pick yourself?

After November 13

Mercury doesn't leave Scorpio until December 6, when it moves into Sagittarius and the mood shifts from depth toward exploration. The weeks in between are for following through on whatever you worked out.

This is the third Mercury retrograde of 2026, and all three fall in water signs: Pisces from February 26 to March 20, Cancer from June 29 to July 23, and now Scorpio. It's been a year of reviewing feelings and the conversations around them. The next one begins on February 9, 2027, at 5°59' Pisces. If one of these drafts is still unsent when it arrives, you'll already know where to start.
