Privacy policy

Read freely.

Last updated October 15, 2026.

Galavyn is a reading site. There are no accounts, comments, or ads. The only cookies are Google Analytics’, and if you’re in the UK, the EU, or Switzerland, we ask before setting them. Here is the short list of what happens when you visit.

Hosting and security

Galavyn and its images are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical details your browser sends, such as your IP address, browser type, and the page you asked for, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We keep short-lived request logs to fix problems. Cloudflare’s handling of this data is described in its privacy policy.

Visit counts

We use two tools to see which pages people read. Cloudflare Web Analytics doesn’t use cookies or local storage, and it reports totals, such as page views and countries, rather than a profile of you.

Google Analytics gives us more detail: which pages you view, how far you scroll, links you follow out of the site, when you start or send a form (never what you type in it), how you arrived (for example from a search or a Pinterest Pin), your approximate location down to the city, and your device and browser type. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_M9C38GHLZS, which last up to two years and let it recognize a returning browser. Google processes this data for us under its data processing terms, and it may be handled in the United States. Google Analytics doesn’t log or store IP addresses, and Google keeps the data for 14 months. We’ve turned off Google signals and every advertising feature, so none of it is used for ads, and we don’t share it with anyone else.

Your cookie choices

If you’re in the UK, the European Economic Area, or Switzerland, Google Analytics stays off until you accept it in the banner, and declining sets no cookies. Elsewhere it’s on by default. Wherever you are, Cookie settings at the bottom of every page turns it on or off, and turning it off deletes its cookies. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a no unless you choose otherwise. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with Google’s opt-out add-on.

To decide whether to ask first, the site checks which country you’re in, using Cloudflare’s lookup of your connection. The country isn’t stored. We don’t sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Email list

If you sign up for email, we keep your address, the date, and the page you signed up on, in a database hosted by Cloudflare. We use your address only to send you Galavyn emails, and we never sell or share it. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can write to us at any time to have your address deleted.

The sign-up box remembers, in your browser’s local storage, whether you’ve closed it or signed up, so it doesn’t keep reappearing. That note stays in your browser and is never sent to us.

Writing to us

If you write to us, we use your address and message to reply and for nothing else. Writing to us doesn’t add you to the email list, and we never sell or share your details.

Pinterest and other sites

The “Save to Pinterest” button is a plain link. Nothing is sent to Pinterest unless you click it, and once you do, Pinterest’s privacy policy applies. The same goes for any other site an article links to.

Children

Galavyn is written for adults and isn’t directed at children under 13.
