How Your Intuition Works, Based on Your Moon Sign
Every Moon sign gets its hunches through a different channel: the body, an urge, a pattern or a mood. Here's yours, and a three-step way to check it.

You walk into the apartment viewing and ten seconds later your whole body says no. You don't know why yet. The light's fine, the kitchen's fine, the rent is fine. Something else landed first, below language, and now you're trying to catch up to what you already know. Your Moon noticed tone, timing, what's missing, and handed you the summary before the evidence arrived.
The catch is that every Moon sign gets that summary through a different channel. One feels it in the body. One feels it as an urge to move. One sees a pattern click into place. One absorbs the whole room's mood. Once you know which channel is yours, you catch the hunch sooner. And once you run one quick check, you can tell whether that hunch is a real read or just nerves doing their thing.
What a hunch actually is
The Moon is the part of you that reacts before you've had time to think, and your Moon sign is the sign it was in when you were born. It's instinct and habit, the quick, wordless response that fires while your conscious mind is still loading the page.
A hunch is that reaction arriving as a full sentence you didn't compose. You noticed something (a pause where there should have been a laugh, a price that doesn't add up, a friend who kept glancing at the door) and your Moon skipped the whole analysis and just handed you the verdict. That makes hunches genuinely useful. It also makes them genuinely wrong sometimes, because the same instinctive machinery that catches real signals also catches wishes, old worries, and the particular way you hate new carpet.
The Moon shifts signs roughly every two to two and a half days, so if you're right on the cusp and your birth time is unknown, your Moon sign could go either way. Chart software can sort it out from your date, time, and place. A description that sounds more familiar is not how you pick.
Hunches you feel in your body
Taurus Moon. You walk into the apartment viewing and you can't get comfortable. The chair doesn't feel right, the air feels off, your stomach won't settle. In a good place, you sink in and suddenly you're hungry. Fixed earth takes in the world through the senses, slow and thorough, so your hunch is never a flash. It's a whole-body verdict that builds until you can't ignore it. You're great at telling whether a deal or a person will actually hold up over time. The misfire: unfamiliar can feel identical to wrong, and a new city or a new job can trigger the same bodily yes-or-no as a genuinely bad situation. Sleep on it, then ask whether the discomfort is about this specific thing or about change in general.
Virgo Moon. Your hunch is a small itch, like a pebble in a shoe, and it's always one specific detail. A date on the lease that's two weeks off. A price that doesn't add up. A signature line in the wrong place. Mutable earth notices what doesn't fit, and you catch the inconsistency everyone else skimmed past. The problem is that when you're tired or running on too much coffee, everything looks like an error. Write the detail down. Reread it after an actual break, not just a scroll. If it still doesn't fit, ask one direct question about it.
Cancer Moon. You feel a tightening when someone gets too close to your people, or a warm yes, this one's safe, when a new friend walks into your kitchen and starts loading the dishwasher uninvited. Cardinal water acts on feeling fast, so your protective read arrives before you've processed why. You're sharp at noticing when someone you love is off, or when a newcomer is being quietly left out. The misfire: that warm yes can arrive too fast when someone is simply sweet to your people, and one kind evening isn't the whole picture. Give a new person three meetings before you hand down the verdict, in either direction.
Hunches that arrive as an urge
Aries Moon. Your hunch is a sudden go or a sudden get out, an impulse to move before you've figured out what you noticed. Cardinal fire turns a read straight into motion, and you'll grab opportunities other people are still "thinking about." You're fast and usually right in the moment: leaving a party that's curdling, saying yes to the last seat, walking away from a conversation that turned. The misfire is impatience dressed up as a sign. It feels identical. Wait ten minutes. If the urge is still there and still pointing the same way, move.
Leo Moon. Your hunch is an urge to lean in or step back. You want to stay and talk to this person all night, or you're suddenly reaching for your coat. It depends on whether you feel genuinely welcomed or quietly performed to. Fixed fire gauges sincerity the way a thermometer gauges a room, and you can tell real enthusiasm from polite enthusiasm across a first date or a job interview. When you're feeling overlooked, though, someone's distraction can read as dislike. Ask one direct, warm question. Listen to how it's answered, not just what the answer is.
Sagittarius Moon. Your hunch is a pull toward an open door. A yes to a trip, a class, a city, a person, with the sense that something is bigger than it looks on paper. As mutable fire, you spot openings before anyone else believes in them. You're the one who'll book the dates on a half-formed trip idea in one conversation. The trap: wishful thinking feels exactly the same from the inside as a genuine pull toward something real. Ask yourself whether this is something you know, or something you'd love to be true. Find one plain fact that supports the yes.
Hunches that show up as a pattern
Gemini Moon. Your hunch snags on a word. Someone's phrasing, a detail that changed between versions of the story, a text that's one word shorter than usual. Mutable air hears language the way a musician hears a slightly flat note, and you notice what people say without meaning to. The risk is building an entire narrative out of that one word. Say the hunch out loud to one trusted person. If it survives being said plainly, it's worth paying attention to. If it dissolves the moment you have to explain it, let it go.
Capricorn Moon. Your hunch is I've seen this before. You've got a sense of how a project, a job, or a person will play out, drawn from the long catalog of things you've already watched fail or hold. Cardinal earth thinks in long arcs, and you're the friend who can see a company's culture problem coming before anyone else notices. The misfire: pessimism can pass itself off as hard-won experience. List the last few times you saw the same pattern. Do they really match this situation, or are you just tired and bracing?
Aquarius Moon. Your hunch is that the system doesn't add up. The incentives are off. The group dynamic is strange. The rules reward the wrong thing, and nobody in the group can see it because they're inside it. Fixed air watches structures from a slight distance, and you see what the room can't see about itself. The trap: you can theorize yourself into a grand structural explanation when the simpler answer is that one person was just in a bad mood. Test the idea against a second case. If it holds twice, take it seriously.
Hunches you pick up as a mood
Libra Moon. Your hunch is the room tipping off balance. A joke landed wrong. Two people are politely not speaking. Someone is being treated unfairly and you feel the tilt before anyone names it. Cardinal air tracks relationships and moves to correct them, which means you're tuned to social undercurrents with almost painful accuracy. The cost: you absorb someone else's discomfort as a problem you have to fix. Ask yourself whose comfort you're tracking right now, and whether it's actually yours to manage.
Scorpio Moon. Your hunch is an undercurrent. The question someone steered around. The silence that followed a name. The thing everyone in the room agreed not to say. Fixed water goes deep and holds on to what it notices, so you can't unsee it once you've seen it. You pick up withheld information and real motives before anyone spells them out. The misfire: you can read suspicion into ordinary privacy, into a person who just doesn't talk about their weekend. Separate what you noticed from what you concluded. Give the conclusion a day before you act on it.
Pisces Moon. Your hunch arrives as an impression or an image, a mood that colors the whole rest of your day. Mutable water soaks up atmosphere, and you pick up how people feel before they say a word. The difficulty: you can absorb a mood that has nothing to do with you. Someone else's bad morning becomes your foggy afternoon. Write the impression down the moment it hits. Read it the next morning with fresh eyes. If it still reads true, look for one plain fact that supports it. If the image evaporated overnight, it was weather, not signal.
How to check a hunch in three steps
Any hunch, any Moon sign, any channel. Three moves, in order.
First, name it in one plain sentence. "I think this job offer has a culture problem." "I think my friend is hiding something." "I think this apartment is fine and I'm just nervous." Naming it keeps it from becoming a vague cloud of dread.
Second, find one plain fact for or against it. Not a feeling. Not a story. One concrete, checkable thing. Did the manager dodge the question about turnover? Is the lease date actually wrong? Has this friend cancelled on you twice already and just started backpedaling about Saturday?
Third, decide. Act on it, park it, or let it go. You don't have to resolve every hunch today.
Keep a log for a month. Date, the hunch, what actually happened. Scroll back at the end and you'll see your own track record: which hunches land, which ones were noise, and what your particular pattern of noise looks like. Intuition gets sharper by being checked, not by being obeyed.
And one thing that sits outside the whole system: if a situation or a person feels unsafe, you leave. You don't need a fact, a second opinion, or a completed hunch log. Leaving costs little. The check can wait. You never owe anyone an explanation for walking out.
Trust the channel, not just the feeling
Back to that apartment viewing. The ten-second no was your Moon's antenna doing exactly what it's built to do: fast noticing, a whole-body or whole-room read arriving before the rational mind catches up. The check is what let you trust it and then let it go, or trust it and walk out. Either way, the hunch got to speak first. That's the gift of your channel, whatever sign it's in. It hands you a starting point before you've had time to argue yourself out of it, and the check is how you find out whether it was right. Learn to catch it early, give it the three-step check, and keep the receipts. That's how you stop second-guessing yourself and start knowing, specifically and concretely, what your gut actually sounds like when it's right.
